MUSHROOM CAP AND STEM

You will make this piece from top to bottom starting with the yarn color you want the mushroom cap to be in.

R1: MC 8 [8]

R2: (sc, inc) x4 [12]

R3: (sc, inc) x6 [18]

R4: (2 sc, inc) x6 [24]

R5-7: 24 sc (for a total of 3 rows) [24]

Place a st marker into the BLO of the first st before making the next round.

R8: Decide which ruffle option you want. You only need to make one of the options below and continue on to R9. All the sts of R8 are worked into the FLO.

Make 2 sl sts to taper off the finish, fasten off (use invisible method for best results), cut yarn tail and weave into the piece to hide it.

Attach new yarn to the BLO of the st where you placed the st marker in after completing R7 with preferred method.

R9: Working in the BLO of the unworked loops in R7, (sc, dec) x8 [16]

R10: FLO 16 sc [16]

R11-12: 16 sc (for a total of 2 rows) [16]

R13: (sc, inc) x8 [24]

R14: 24 sc [24]

Start to stuff & continue until the piece is complete. Place the safety eyes between Rows 13 & 14 with at least 2-3 visible sts in between.

R15: (sc, dec) x8 [16]

R16: (dec) x8 [8]

Fasten off, cut yarn tail and weave into the piece to hide it.

MUSHROOM DOTS

You may embroider mushrooms dots spread across the mushroom cap. With a long piece of yarn in white or other accent color, you can wrap around at least 3 time across 1-3 sts depending on how small or big you want your mushroom dots to be.

An alternative will be cutting simple circles with felt and gluing them to the mushroom cap. I like to use two circles in the same size and one more slightly bigger and placed off center as pictured.

Another idea would be to replace some sc sts in the mushroom cap with bobble sts in white.

MUSHROOM BLUSH

You can paint blush onto the mushroom or embroider them. With a piece of pink or accent color yarn, wrap the yarn 2-3 time across 2-3 sts right below the safety or felt eyes. Fasten off and hide the tails.
